From time to time, the Canoe Outpost will hold or participate in or support a special event involving paddling. When we do, we will make the information available to you through this page. So check back to see what’s going on in paddling and if you have an event you would like to see posted, please contact us at CanoeOutpost@Hughes.net or call (813) 634-2228.
2nd Annual Little Manatee River Jam - Saturday, November 19 2011 If you would like to see this poster in more detail, open this pdf.
IIt's time for the 2nd annual Little Manatee River Jam, brought to you by WMNF community radio and the Canoe Outpost to benefit WMNF and Elmira's Wildlife Sanctuary. Last year, our first event, was a blast. We all got to hear some great music, met some good folks, had fun and we were able to donate over $2500.00 to Elmira's from the proceeds of food and drink sales and support community radio too. After last year's smash event, we have added more camp sites, more tables, more electric, more water and more parking and a new stage in our efforts to improve this event every year to earn your support.
This year's show will feature six bands. Returning this year are Talk to Mark, Ed Carter and local favorite Damon Fowler playing tunes from his newly released CD. New on the bill this year are Sons Of Hippies and The Sarah Mac Band, and The Human Condition so it is sure to be a full day of great music.
My wife Andi & I want to thank all the folks who came last year and are hopefully coming back with even more friends this year. To all the volunteers that make the event work and the staffs at WMNF and our own Canoe Outpost, a giant thank you for all your work.
See you at the show!

CAMPING
Camping at the Canoe Outpost is a great way to enjoy the event and the river. Rent a canoe or kayak and go paddling, swim, fish or just hang out and relax, maybe play a little music. We have a public bath house, water and electric at all reserved sites and an RV dump station for use after the event. We sell firewood and ice, snacks and drinks, all at good prices too. For your larger needs, chain stores and restaurants are just 3 miles away. So come for the event or stay the weekend, you're sure to have a good time.
Reservations are strongly recommended as we are a small facility and we expect to fill up fast. If any sites of any type remain after Thursday 11/17, they will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. So look over the event map, the site descriptions and lodging options and call the outpost for a reservation today. All camping and lodging must be prepaid at time of reservation and is non-refundable. Even free primitive tent campers for Saturday night should call to be put on the list so we don't get over crowded.
Free primitive tent camping for Saturday night only on a first come, first served basis. Camp in designated areas only - cannot arrive before 11:00 Saturday to set up (to allow for canoe business traffic) - may drive in to drop off gear but you will have to park on Hwy 301 - no picnic tables - you may have SMALL ground fires - public restrooms for showers/bath/water.
Primitive tent camping for Friday is $18 per tent. You may reserve a spot for Friday night, arrive to set up anytime Friday, and keep the same spot for Saturday free. This assures that you get a spot, the same spot, for Saturday too. Reserved primitive tent campers also get on property parking but not necessarily right by their tent. No electric. One vehicle per reserved site please. Extra vehicles will park on Hwy 301.
Electric and water sites vary in size and contour with some suitable for RV's and others more suited for tents. All are $24 per night with a 2 night minimum (Fri & Sat or Sat &Sun). Please see the site descriptions below and then call to check availability and for a reservation. Arrive anytime Friday or early Saturday to avoid the congestion that will increase as the event time nears. This is especially true if you are in a RV to allow for maneuvering room.
